World Kidney day- 10th March 2016

In our continued efforts of preventive kidney care, on the world kidney day, VGSC conducted a camp for the general public. day started out with our young and dynamic VGSC members giving out the kidney protecting information leaflets at the Marina Beach, Nageswara rao Park and at the cofee stalls of the neighbourhood. Free BP and Blood sugars were done on the spot. Following that, from 3pm onwards VGSC doors were opened for the educational and free kidney screening activities to the general public. Everyone who attended got screened for kidney disease and were educated/informed about their kidney functional status. Through educational charts, common factors causing kidney disease, how to monitor them and the precautions to be taken was discussed in groups by the support group members. Dr Sarita and Dr Syed Hafeezullah interacted with the attendees in a classroom and answered all their queries. We were happy to see the interest our efforts generated in the public about kidney health. Few new onset diabetes and hypertension/proteinuria cases were picked up during this screening.
